Summing up The EU


I received the following  from a friend by email the other day and thought it summed things up perfectly –




Pythagorean Theorem  24 words.

Lord’s prayer  66 words 
Archimedes’ Principle 
67 words.

Ten Commandments  179 words.

Gettysburg address  286 words

US Declaration of Independence  1,300 words.
US Constitution with all 27 Amendments  7,818 words.

EU regulations on the sale of cabbage  26,911 words.

    Got ANYTHING that doesn’t quote the filthy American scumbags? What about the documents from our own government, or do you not want it to be shown that Brussels is not all bad?

      David, there are many fine documents from England that also have far fewer words than the EU directorate on cabbages, but I re-posted an item sent to me by a friend with no alterations (In the same way that I have approved your comment for publication on the site without any alterations – Even though I may not agree with it!)

      Brussels may not be all bad, but if you weigh up the benefits and disadvantages I think you will see that there is a need for a Referendum on our membership where the people can decide. We have not had a say on anything at all to do with the EU since the mid seventies, and what we have now bears no relation to the Common Market that was put to the people of England back then.
