I never cease to be amazed by the political class, and their detachment from the day to day lives of the people they purport to represent.
I am sure that we all thought that the spectre of the third runway was behind us with the announcement from the coalition government that the idea was dead and buried. Unfortunately, the next generation of Labour politicians are still not giving up on their dream of demolishing the Heathrow Villages as leadership candidate David Miliband stated that he believes that a third runway would be ‘ A boost to London’s economy and Businesses’ (Source – The Evening Standard, 8th September). What a slap in the face for all of the local organisations, most notably NOTRAG, who campaigned to stop this abomination from happening, and put the local community ahead of the demands of the globalists.
So, John McDonnell, MP for Hayes and Harlington and noted campaigner against the third runway – You stated at a hustings meeting at St Anselm’s Church that I attended before the General Election that all the political parties ‘lied about’ the 3rd runway and not to trust them….You then gave a victory speech on your re-election on the morning of 7th May that ‘The third runway is now dead’. If this is the case, then it is time to confront your own party and either make them back down or walk away from an organisation that ignores the will of the people of Hillingdon.
